Friday, June 7 marks National Donut Day—a time to celebrate the sweet confections by participating in the many promotions taking place at bakeries throughout Jacksonville. Here are some of the best bets for getting your fix:
The Mini Bar
The Mini Bar is going big for national donut day. Four weekend specials will be offered, which will be posted in the days leading up to the big event. Free drip Bold Bean coffee will also be on offer (because what’s a donut without a cup of Joe?). The donut shop is also partnering with BEAM on a food and clothing drive (every donation equates to one raffle ticket, with one lucky winner ultimately snagging donuts and coffee for a year).
Good Dough
Good Dough is hosting a giveaway on its Facebook and Instagram. By liking a photo, following Good Dough, and tagging a fellow donut lover, one lucky winner will receive a free donut and drip coffee once a month for 12 months—a year of goodness. The contest ends Thursday at 8 PM.
Fiction Donuts
Fiction Donuts in St. Augustine is celebrating in multiple ways. Every purchase will come with a free glazed or chocolate glazed donut and customers can pre-order an exclusive National Donut Day Dozen. For $25 you can get 12 assorted cake and yeast donuts, including one heart shaped donut and six donuts topped with sugar cookies that spell out “Donuts.”
Krispy Kreme
Visitors to the national chain can pick up one free donut of their choice, and contribute to their goal of giving away one million donuts. And if they succeed, what happens? Well, everyone then has the chance to get another free donut, later in June.
Dunkin Donuts
Dunkin Donuts is encouraging patrons to “Dunk Out” by giving away a free classic donut with the purchase of a beverage. Feast on favorites like Glazed Chocolate, Strawberry Frosted, and the original Glazed.
Walmart
People don’t really think about Walmart when they think about donuts, but hear us out. All customers that stop at the mega-chain’s bakery counter will receive a free glazed donut. No strings attached.
The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army established the first National Donut Day back in 1938. To this day the organization continues to celebrate. For 2019, staff and volunteers will deliver donuts and host events across the country. Entenmann’s is pairing up with the army to give over 20,000 veterans some tasty treats. The Jacksonville chapter plans on delivering to first responders and veterans in its residential facility.
