For more than 30 years, covering the local artistic community has been an important part of Jacksonville Magazine’s editorial mission. For 2019, we decided to expand that coverage by hosting our inaugural Excellence in the Arts Awards, a new annual feature that shines a light on the Northeast Florida creative community like never before.
The Excellence in Arts Awards will focus on ten categories. They are:
Visual Arts
Music
Arts Innovator
Words
Theatre
Body of Work
Photography
Applied Arts
Dance
Emerging Artist
Nominations for the Excellence in Arts Awards are being accepted via our online survey. The first step to being considered is completing and submitting a nomination form. All submissions will be reviewed by Jacksonville Magazine staff, as well as a panel of select community members. Nomination deadline is September 1, 2019.
Of course, the arts are very subjective and personal thing, and deciding who is worthy of recognition is no simple task. That said, we know the region’s artistic threads run deep, from local college campuses to the Cork Arts District to the stages of the many neighborhood theatre groups.
The inaugural award winners will be showcased in the October 2019 edition of Jacksonville Magazine. And they will be recognized at a special reception held near the release of the October magazine.
