Mid-Century Modern Architecture
The innovative designs of Robert Broward are the focus of the third annual Mid-Century Modern Architecture Symposium Series, set for Saturday, March 13. The day begins with a 9 AM discussion, "Preserving the Recent Past" ($5). Lunch is set for noon ($10), and is followed by a bus tour of Broward's many local projects ($60 for symposium, lunch and tour). Hosted by AIA of Jacksonville, Cathedral of Faith COGIC, 2591 W. Pop Legends The Next Generation
Two renowned pop artists are coming together for a joint show this month at the R. Roberts Gallery. Michael Godard, often described as a "rockstar of the art world," and Charles Fazzino, perhaps the most popular 3-D artist in the world today, showcase their works during a special exhibition and acquisition event at the gallery.
Previews begin Friday, March 12, and continue with exclusive artists' receptions March 20 and 21. A children's benefit is set for the afternoon of March 20.

A trip down the St. Johns
All aboard! The St. Johns Riverkeeper hosts two 2-day boat trips along the St. Johns River from Palatka to Sanford for those who want to better understand the river. Each trip includes transport to and from Jacksonville, overnight accommodations, catered lunches, speakers and historical re-enactors. The cruise will make many stops along the way at places like Hontoon Island and Silver Glen Springs. The trips are April 8-9 and April 10-11 at $325 a person. Each trip is limited to 50 passengers. The Buzz on Bees
The University of Florida hosts the third annual Bee College at UF Whitney Marine Labs in St. Augustine, March 12-13. The Bee College is open to honey lovers of all ages and experience levels. More than 20 speakers are scheduled, with hands-on workshops and the annual Honey Show to round out the two-day event. A restricted use pesticide certification class will be offered, as well as African bee training and identification classes. Registration starts at $80 per person.

2010 MPS Group Championship
The MPS Group Championships celebrate the return of defending champion, Caroline Wozinacki. With the win at the championships last year, Wozinacki launched her best season in professional tennis and now returns ranked No. 4 in world singles on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. Mad About Marilyn
Calling all Marilyn Monroe fans: The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville hosts its Mad About Marilyn Soirée, a Hollywood-style celebration of the iconic blonde actress, March 13. The party features diamond-laced cocktails, live music, dancing and late-night tours of the museum’s special Marilyn exhibition. The party starts at 8 PM and goes on until midnight. River Walk 2RAM
The Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute hosts its first River Walk 2RAM, a leisurely paced walk to the Riverside Arts Market to benefit the market and Greenscape. With three starting points (Downtown, Riverside and San Marco), walkers can determine the length of their trek.
