Hope at Hand, a local charity providing lessons for at-risk youth in North Florida, celebrates National Poetry Month with its second annual Jax Poetry Fest 2017. Starting today, April 4, Hope at Hand offers a four-day event of activities, workshops and community support. All workshops are located at the Hope at Hand headquarters, 3886 Atlantic Blvd., where poetry performances for adolescents start at 2:30 PM, followed by a writing workshop with Jenn Wolfe at 6 PM.
On Wednesday, April 5, Hope at Hand holds a booth at Art Walk at 5 PM for spoken word and interactive poetry. Hemming Park Café also hosts a High School Poetry Contest, announcing its winners at 7 PM.
Various activities and workshops available Thursday, April 6 at Hope at Hand headquarters from 1-7 PM. Performance poet Dominique Christina concludes Jax Poetry Fest 2017 at the Karpeles Manuscript Museum Library from 6:30-8:30 PM. hopeathand.org
