Golfers are a resilient bunch, as anyone spending time on the links understands what it takes to recover from a bad break. Often, especially foul weather can stop the game until a later date, and players must retain enthusiasm to have any chance at success. Due to Hurricane Matthew, this year's rescheduled round of Taste of Golf at Sawgrass remained positive under those circumstances on November 3. Staff and area partners played perfect caddy for The First Tee, fundraising for the nonprofit which develops athletic and life skills for youths aged 7-18, while live music from the Charlie Walker Band accompanied wine tasting and fare from nearly a dozen chefs of Northeast Florida’s country clubs. A silent auction offering tickets to the U.S. Open and PGA Championship went to help The First Tee’s mission of building character, values and lifelong golf enthusiasts.
