The second annual Run for Heroes 5k and Fun Run will take place at the Unity Plaza in Riverside Saturday, May 28 with proceeds benefitting UF Health Jacksonville’s level one adult and pediatric trauma program, the only center of its kind in the region.

Runners may choose to canter around the charming event settings during the one mile Fun Run or opt for the timed dash across the finish line in the 5k, where medals will be presented for the top three male and female finishers in each of three categories.

Those participating in the 5k will also receive a commemorative custom tee shirt and goodie bag, and Fun Runners will each be awarded a medal and can expect to finish the day with a frosty treat.

The race will benefit the Level 1 Trauma Center, which serves 30 counties in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, providing life saving care to over 4,000 patients per year. The center consists of the Trauma Center, Flight Services,Dispatch and Communications and a Trauma Education and Prevention program

Day-of registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and is open until 7:45 a.m., a mere fifteen minutes prior to gun time for the 5k, so be sure to allow for enough time for stretching. The Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m.

Registration costs are $40 for the 5k, and $15 for the Fun Run.
