Great Chefs 2016 Round One Competition Results

Meet the chefsIn early 2016, Jacksonville Magazine and TPC Sawgrass host the sixth annual Great Chefs of Jacksonville. The fundraiser features two teams of four chefs battling plate-vs-plate in a four-course meal, with the goal of hoisting the grand crystal Great Chefs trophy. The event is set for March 3 inside the gorgeous TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse. However, the first step toward next year’s crown was taken the afternoon of Tuesday, October 27. That day, ten TPC culinary team members participated in an inter-kitchen cook off.

Each chef was asked to prepare one dish for a select panel to sample and judge. Of course, it wasn't that simple. Each chef was randomly assigned three items that had to be incorporated into his or her dish. And they only had 90 minutes in which to prepare it. The top three vote-getters would move on to round two, a special dinner to held at the club on November 10. The three finalists selected were Kristen Brennan, Thomas Grossman and Marvyn Mizell. Choosing just three finalists was no easy task. Pictured here are the ten dishes sampled in October. And, yes, they tasted even better than they look.

The November 10 dinner is a TPC members-only affair. Great Chefs is open to all and tickets will go on sale in early January. Only 150 seats will be offered and the event always sells out. Until then, enjoy these photos...
