The world’s leading home furnishings retailer with more than 370 stores in 48 countries, IKEA, is bringing its store to Jacksonville. IKEA proposed its fifth Florida location at the northwestern corner of I-295 and Gate Parkway.

The IKEA store will be built on 25 acres, with 1,200 parking spaces and 294,000 square feet of retail space. Inside, visitors can expect a 350-seat restaurant serving Swedish and American dishes, three model home interiors, 50 room-settings, and about 10,000 exclusively designed items. Family friendly features of the new store include preferred parking, baby care rooms, play areas, and a “Children’s Ikea” area in the Showroom.

Store plans reflect the same unique architectural design for which IKEA stores are known worldwide.  IKEA also will evaluate potential on-site power generation to complement its current U.S. renewable energy presence at nearly 90% of its U.S. locations.

More than 500 jobs are expected during construction and 250 when the store opens. Opening is expected Fall 2017.
