Purses & Pumps with a Purpose was held Thursday, October 2 in the Herbert University Center at the University of North Florida. Sponsored by Hope for a Better Life, this fun and stylish event was held to raise awareness about domestic violence. All proceeds benefited Jacksonville’s Hubbard House, a shelter that has provided a place of refuge for victims of domestic violence and their children for over 30 years. Attendees enjoyed cocktails and appetizers before being treated to a delicious dinner and fashion show, where the models were styled by fashion teams using clothing that had been donated to Hubbard House. The men even got in on the night's festivities by competing in the "walk in a woman's shoes" demonstration. While the men strutted their stuff down the catwalk with surprising ease and grace, the women showed off their best pumps for the Jacksonville Magazine Shoe Cam. Purses & Pumps provided an evening of fashion and fun, all while promoting a great cause.
