Some events get a lot of attention: One Spark, the 26.2 With DONNA and the Jacksonville Jazz Festival come to mind. While those are great events—and they really are—there are smaller-scale happenings on the First Coast that don't get as much coverage, but are just as great. Here are three things happening this month that you might not have heard about:
This year marks the fourth annual Clean Water Music Fest, a music festival organized by local duo Jordyn Jackson and Shawn Fisher, also known as Flagship Romance. Since the first event in 2011, the festival has raised over $90,000 for Charity:Water, which works to give clean drinking water to the millions of people who don't have it.
This event is a great opportunity to hear some of the best bands on the local scene and support a great cause for only a $15 suggested donation. They've also lined up some great food trucks, local vendors and silent auction and raffle items. Trust me, it's a worthy way to spend your Saturday.
Delicious Destinations is an annual three-day food and wine celebration that features acclaimed chefs from some of the South's most iconic restaurants and resorts. Celebrating its 14th year at the prestigious and scenic Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, the event raises funds for the St. Vincent's Foundation and supports its critically important community health outreach programs.
The main event is Delicious Destinations - A Gourmet Food And Wine Event on September 12. Southern Wine & Spirits of North Florida will expertly pair each chef’s culinary creation with a variety of exceptional wines from an assortment of select domestic and international vineyards. The gala also includes live and silent auctions as well as a drawing of unique items including spa and restaurant gift certificates, unique catered dinners, weekend getaways and more.
I don't know about you, but the promise of free beer is a big hook for me. Socially Bold's San Marco Block Party sounds like a blast—a DJ, food trucks and beer? What more do you need?
