Sippers Coffeehouse

The Town Center is either a place one loves or a place one loathes. I tend to lean towards the latter. Not too many gems just a ton of name brands but tucked away on Gate Parkway there is a local experience you must try. Sippers Coffeehouse, which is near and dear to my heart.  It’s one of the few “local” places you’ll find in that area.  When you walk in, you’re almost guaranteed to be greeted by the owner, Ms. Marcy.  She knows everyone by name, and if you’re new, she’ll make it a point to get your name down pat.IMAG1165_1

Ms. Marcy and her husband, Mr. Matt, have owned this coffee shop since 2009.  Before we go any further, let’s just give them a virtual hand clap for fighting the good fight of small businesses.  Especially since they kept their doors open through the great recession.  Not to mention their location isn’t always one to embrace the local.  They kept their customer base and only grew larger.  They've each put their life into this business because it's what they love to do. Ms. Marcy doesn’t just remember your name, she remembers your family, your job, your drink, all to keep up to date on how you’re doing personally.  It’s much more than a community, it feels like home when you stroll in to Sippers._MG_0034_6239_MG_0019_6061

With fresh baked goods all day long and delicious drinks, how can you not have meal time talk while you’re there?  As the tag line says – “Cup of Kindness.” I assure you, your cup will overflow with kindness.

Let me give you the low down on what to order. Almost everything is made in-house or local.

There will always be three drip coffees to choose from:

  • medium roast that you can normally find coming from Bold Bean Coffee Roasters or Coffee Roasters of Jacksonville.
  • dark roast which is always a local blend, but Ms. Marcy names all of her dark blends after her father, Pure Gold. Growing up, her father’s Sunday school character was named Pure Gold.
  • And then my favorite: there’s always a flavored coffee that goes through rotation.  Popular ones in the past have been: Blueberry, Graham Cracker, Jingle Bell Java, and Pumpkin Spice.Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetIMG_0726_3733

The flavors of lattes are endless and you can pair those lattes with a gluten free pastry if you’d like.  But if you like your gluten, get a home made Cinnamon Roll.  The recipe comes straight from Ms. Marcy, who made them for her children growing up.  What I go there for, however, is the chai.  I’m a chai latte connoisseur myself, and as far as my taste buds have told me, this is the best chai in Jax.  They blend the chai right in the store.  I didn’t even touch on the free wi-fi, the drive-thru sliding glass door, or eclectic style inside. I think I’ve raved on for this whole paragraph.  I won’t continue, because I’m expecting to find you in there.  Get me  a chai when you go!
