Lemme tell ya bout something really cool that's going down next month. On April 16, at the Garden Club of Jacksonville, a group of architects, designers and all-around creative types will be showing off some really fashionable creations as part of Cocktail Couture. The event is led by the IIDA North Florida chapter and has raised more than $75,000 for Dignity U Wear over the years. The designers will actually be fashioning their wares out of design materials—think carpet tiles, marketing materials, fibers, foam, tile, metal... Expect some Project Runway-style designs, folks. There will be awards, too—for Judges' Choice, Best Use of Materials and Ready-to-Wear. The theme, An Organic Experience, means the ensembles are going to be really incredible. Just look at what they came up with last year!
Oh, and the really embarrassing part? I will actually be in the show, walking down the runway as one of the "models" (a term I use very lightly, as I am certainly no model). Some other Jax Mag representatives will be on hand, as well—so if you want your pic in the May issue, I suggest you come on out!
